Teaching Kit for Liberal Studies
MPFA Incorporates Financial Planning into Teaching of Liberal Studies of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum
With a view to explaining how to apply the topic of financial planning to the study areas in the Liberal Studies of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum, the MPFA and the Hong Kong Teachers’ Centre of the Education Bureau had jointly organized a training workshop "Financial Planning and Personal Development" for the teachers of Liberal Studies on 9 October 2010. (Relevancy of Financial Planning to Liberal Studies in the New Senior Secondary Curriculum)
In the workshop, a representative from the MPFA and an experienced Certified Financial Planner gave presentation on various topics, including (i) basic concepts on money management and financial planning, (ii) the importance of financial management skills to adolescents' development, (iii) basic knowledge on major investment products, and (iv) the importance and benefits of having an early start on retirement planning and how to manage MPF investment to suit individual needs. A skit performance was also held in the workshop to facilitate the teachers to adopt the content of this interactive drama in their teaching.
The MPFA has also designed a teaching kit for the teachers of Liberal Studies, covering three topics including Savings, Consumption and Financial Planning. Teachers could make use of the teaching kit, which comes in Chinese and English, in a flexible manner. Each kit consists of lesson plan, powerpoint presentation, worksheets, suggested classroom activities as well as video footages and an interactive game in the interactive drama to cater for teachers' teaching needs.
